They are quite simple to build and I would recommend anyone having a go - once you can away from the ‘these need to be super detailed in every respect’ everything is easy!

Smaller games are certainly my preferred choice these days - being time poor makes it a necessity really - as in many ways the playing experience seems more intense, presumably due to the ‘zooming in’ effect. I like to think of it as watching the highlights!

All the best,

DCDavid Crookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02497436789811496047noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4472889370304077924.post-35273310832741957052022-04-05T19:27:51.215+01:002022-04-05T19:27:51.215+01:00Hi Simon,

Maybe one day I might even get to make some for myself!

I completely concur that one doesn't need oodles (great word!) of models or acres of space and terrain to have a great game. Sorry old chap but work has intervened!...Hi Simon,

Sorry old chap but work has intervened! Seriously though, I need to unscramble my notes into some form of coherent order as well as getting the board painted and ready. As a teaser though, I can tell you that the action will be the largest I will have fought using this format - 4 ships in fact - and I shall be taking the action inland and along the river.

Mimi and Toutou will feature at some point but not for a while yet as I really need to finish the ACW. Both the books you mention are excellent although my copy of the latter seems to have disappeared into the ether! If you but a copy of David Manley’s excellent rules Steamer Wars they include not only a great set rules but also a full campaign system as the text of the lecture that Spicer Simpson gave describing the campaign and his part in it - a fun read for sure!

All the best,

DCDavid Crookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02497436789811496047noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4472889370304077924.post-86912024777081682362022-04-05T16:19:23.498+01:002022-04-05T16:19:23.498+01:00Corr blimey you are making us wait until the week...Corr blimey you are making us wait until the weekend!

Seriously, I am really looking forward to the next instalment. I have just finished rereading Mimi and Toutou go Forth and The Phantom Flotilla so a game around this period is very timely. I have also ordered a fictional account based on the Spicer-Simson story called Utmost Fish. I am toying with extending Bob's Mimi and Toutou ruleset.
Cheers SimonSimonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16685946344478456214noreply@blogger.com
