Blogging Off,,,,For now!

It has been a real struggle for me to maintain the enthusiasm to write on my blog for some time now. Work is really putting the squeeze on my spare time so the great battle reports of days gone by are sadly confined to the past. Careful readers will note that the number of entries has dwindled away to a mere trickle compared to a few years ago. It is not that I don't enjoy it - it is more a case of me feeling guilty about not having anything exciting to pass on. I have a number of things on the go but my spare time is so limited these days that something has got to give if I am to get anything done at all.

It is with this in mind that I have taken the decision to suspend my own blogging for a while - or at least until I have something worth sharing to write about. From a practical perspective it means that perhaps once a month I may put finger to keyboard - and only then if it is something really exciting.

I'll be back - I'm just not sure when....;-)

  2. David,

It sounds like an excellent decision. Better that you are doing something with what limited time that you have rather than trying to blog just for the sake of it.

That said, I will miss reading your regular blog entries but it will make those that do appear even more interesting to read.

    All the best,

    Bob

  3. Hi Steve,

I need to get some painting done and that is not happening in the way I would like. Something needs to give so the blog will need to sit quietly for a while.

I shall return though - have no fear!

    All the best,

    DC

  4. Hi Bob,

Many thanks old chap, much appreciated. There will be some things posted in due course but I don't want to stress about it unduly - I would rather get some modelling/painting tackled.

    All the best,

    DC

  5. David,

Between work and family issues, and an infernally hot painting desk area, I have not done much myself. You have earned a bit of a break, and don't worry, we will be patiently awaiting your return.

  7. I'm relatively new to this blogging lark but having just seen how long you've been blogging and how prolific you've been I'd say this is a well-earned break!!

  8. We all need a break sometimes Dave. We'll see you soon I have no doubt.

  9. Hi David,
I can relate to taking a blog break. Some think 5 years is a little long...
Just wanted to say that I have enjoyed your blog, and especially the battle reports back when you had time to include your "purple prose". Those were great.
Here's hoping you can soon get back to that point time-wise and motivation-wise.
    Thanks and regards,
    John

  10. The effort should be an enjoyable undertaking and not a dreaded task. Until time and inspiration returns, we will be waiting...

  16. Hi Ray,

Old bloggers never die - they merely 'rest' until the urge returns!

  17. Hi John (Ferryman),

I used to really enjoy writing the battle reports - purple prose and all - but recently have been too tired to give them justice. Rest assured that I will be back - refreshed and recharged in due course.

Many thanks for you kind words and support.

    All the best,

    DC

  21. Pity but if it's the right decision that's all that counts. No point forcing yourself if you have other projects burning your time.

  22. Hi Lee,

With work being as it is my feeling can be described as being like 'butter that has been scraped over too much bread'. I know my mojo will return but for the moment I need some down time to recharge the creative juices.

    See you soon old chap!

  23. I did exactly the same thing a few weeks ago for exactly the same reasons. I'm sure the break will be a positive step and will help you to get back up and running in good time.

    All the best
