The top picture shows her as the USS General Price whilst the bottom shows her as the CSS General Sterling Price. The models are nearly finished in respect of the construction (and will be pictured and posted in due course) and all I will need to do in the future is to ensure that they don't line up on opposite sides in the same action!
This is a long running and continuing journey around a collection of ideas, projects, games, models and a variety of wargaming related themes from my own imagination and from others. As I have been described as having the attention span of a forgetful goldfish you can rest assured the resulting subject matter will be diverse and (usually) entertaining! A Tale of Two Ships
I freely admit that I have cheated somewhat in my choice of this particular ship for my ACW naval scratch building project. The reason is quite simple - she started life as a Confederate ship, was sunk and then salvaged and then became a Union ship! I like the design and the two models of her I am making are slightly up scaled versions of the three side wheelers I have already built for the Union rams.
I have always found that to be a great naval tale too, so what not indeed!
ReplyDeleteHi Tas,
ReplyDeleteFor me the design of this ship is exactly what a Mississippi steamer should look like and it is very easy to build as well. I couldn't resist the 'under two flags' angle as well!
All the best,
DC
