(With apologies to Lionel Ritchie and the Commodores....;-))
This was a table that grew in the telling....(With apologies to J.R.R. Tolkein....;-))
This is my original dining table, rescued from our local Scout group. It is 5ft x 2ft 6" but with rounded corners that restricted the placing of sufficient quantities of Hexon.
This is the next stage of development - an off cut of MDF acquired from a local timber yard which is exactly 5ft x 3 ft but without the rounded corners! I can happily fit sufficient Hexon on this to cover my desired 13 s 9 hexed playing area.
....And finally, the new, all-singing, all-dancing super deluxe 6ft x 4ft folding gaming table!
And just for lighter relief - this is the bag of blocks I collected from my joiner and no, I am not giving a prize for the best guess as to how many are on show!
David,
ReplyDeleteVery nice indeed! I look forward to seeing it 'in the flesh' in the near future.
All the best,
Bob
Can this cockpit hold the vasty fields of France?
ReplyDeleteThat's a very handsome table! Now get some games played!
ReplyDeleteHi Bob,
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of 'finishing off' jobs to do with this - I want to add some handles and catch to hold it closed when not in use. It actuallu does not take up as much room as I though and is currently set up.
I am sure you will enjoy seeing it in the flesh!
All the best,
DC
HI CK,
ReplyDeleteProbably most of the Low Countries as well....;-)
All the best,

Hi Tim,
ReplyDeleteMany thanks old chap and funny you should mention that....;-)
All the best,

I look forward to all of your block armies painted and completed. Are you referencing Kriegsspiel or do you have a different labelling system in mind?
ReplyDeleteJeff
Hi Jeff,
ReplyDeleteThe block armies are not painted but they are labelled. The labels for infantry and cavalry are the standard military symbols for the same that I 'drew' in MS Paint and printed off on my trusty inkjet printer.
They are very simple and the only deviation from the usual map symbols is the fact that I have a slightly different artillery device - it looks like a aerial view of a cannon. I will do the same for vehicles and 20th century stuff like MGs, mortars and AT guns etc.
The blue and the red set are finished and I have four more colours to prepare.
All the best,
DC

ReplyDeleteLooks good! I'd say there's a least a couple of corps in the bag.

A definite improvement on the gaming facility to be sure.
ReplyDeleteAnd, good luck on that interview!
Hi EG,
ReplyDeleteIt will make a big difference to naval games for sure!
Many thanks for the good luck - every little helps!
All the best,
