I knew what this was and so walked from the train station with a spring in my step and looking forward to opening my parcel.
I was in no hurry as there was a very nice Chilli to eat for dinner first of all. Small talk with the family was over with as was the clearing up so i sat down to open the mysterious package.
The dust jacket was as described - a little ragged around the edges - and the overall condition of the book was very good - as you would expect for a book with a cover price of US$ 250.00 (I kid you not).
Something was not quite right.
The book is supposed to contain all 36 of the ACW prints in chronological order.
18 prints had been cut out of the book and were missing and one more had been cut out but was still in place so proceeded to fall out when I opened the page anyway.
I am slightly north of way beyond disappointed....
What a &^%%$**%$!!! Hope it doesn't spoil the weekend for you.
ReplyDeleteDavid,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as if you have a good case for asking for your money back!
Did you buy it from a dealer? If so, they ought to have a return policy for goods that do not match the description.
Good luck,
Bob
Ouch!! Get a complaint in quick!
ReplyDeleteYou sort of have to wonder about the integrity of some people. 'Caveat emptor,'sayeth the wiseacres, but it is hard for the emptor to caveat over the internet. For the sake of a little gain for themselves, whoever pulled off this fraud has done far more damage the whole notion of internet trading and exchanges.
ReplyDeleteObviously a follower of Ayn Rand.

ReplyDeleteWhat a shame!
ReplyDeleteWhat sort of louse would do that?
ReplyDeleteWho was it that has ripped you off like this??? I hope you have demanded an immediate refund - goods most definitely not as described!
ReplyDeleteThat's outrageous David, I can understand how you feel. I do hope that you get some response from the seller.
ReplyDeleteGentlemen,
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for your sympathetic and supportive words - they are much appreciated.
I emailed the dealer (it is a bookshop) yesterday evening and followed it up with a call to them this morning. The proprietor had seen the email and was in the process of issuing a full refund and his profuse apologies. We had a long chat about the book and he was genuinely apologetic. He has processed a full refund and has told me to keep the book rather than returning it as it is in unsaleable condition.
I was so impressed with his customer service that I have registered to their mailing list and left the book on my wants list as I would happily deal with him again - merely because of the professional and courteous way he dealt with this situation.
He may be half a book down and the postage down but he has gained a customer.
All’s well that ends well.
All the best,
DC
Hi ‘Lee,
ReplyDeleteI was pretty hacked off but the situation has been resolved in an exemplary way.
I now have half a book of prints and a full refund....
All the best,
DC
Nice to hear that it "all came good" in the end
ReplyDeleteDoes that mean that there is now £250 in the wargaming kitty ;)
