Early November DTPIW Update

A teaser of what is to come. Squares - and yes, I have orthogonal firing arcs as well!

Having worked out the stiffness in my modelling technique with the recent build of C.S.S. Florida, I am now poised at the ready to be buried under industrial quantities of MDF, bamboo skewers, cocktail sticks and cardboard for the foreseeable future. All I am waiting on is the arrival of the said MDF from Warbases which should be anytime soon and then the great ironclad build can begin in earnest.

In the meantime though, work on Developing the Portable Ironclads Wargame has been accelerated somewhat, in that I have beavering away with the text. I am now more or less at the stage where everything drafted so far can be sent for proofreading with the exception of the chapters around the Anglo-Turkish War - the battle for which will form the grand finale of the book. As it stands this battle will feature anything from sixteen to twenty models so it will be the largest I have fought using the rules.

Taking all this into consideration I am going to stick my next out and state that the book will be available at some point during Q1 of next year.

I shall also be making provision for the errata to made available as a PDF - this will be the same as what will appear in the published version.

It is all coming together!

You could publish the rules first and then have Turkish war as a supplement? That would please all your ACW fans!

Hi Simon,

I plan to make the rules errata (actually fairly modest although with one significant change - which I posted previously) available as a PDF so owners of the original Portable Ironclads Wargame will have them as up to date as possible. DTPIW features a host of optional and alternative rules to e used or not as the fancy takes.

The Anglo Turkish battle will feature because I am using some of the optional/alternative rules and it will also be the largest battle I have fought. It also means I can build another batch of models!

All the best,

DC
