Movin' on

The soul searching continues. I have been giving a lot of thought to where I am at and where I want to be and several things keep coming to the fore - so there must be some logic behind the process! I think I may have a satisfactory solution to the Jutland problem - this is currenly under consideration and will form a blog post in due course. I also have a possible solution to the figures issue which, if successful will have huge potential for me - rather ironic if I was to reveal exactly what it is....;-)

I have phases like this where my enthusiasm seems to go off the boil and I feel somewhat bereft of purpose but it always kicks back in at some point - I have reached this and am setting off on another round so to speak.

Inevitably there are casualties in respect of what I will no longer be tackling and this time is certainly no different from any other occasion. I have a list of historical periods that are being 'nuked' - these were marginal interests in any case - and am making provision for the disposal of the appropriate material. Obviously the funds arising will be reinvested in those areas of more immediate interest so all is not lost.

In the meantime though, I am reallykeen to get a game in. This weekend, being a bank holiday, will allow me the time to be able to tackle something using the block armies so my efforts over the next few days will be focused on teeing something suitable up which will feature as a battle report in due course.

Time to roll some dice again methinks....;-)

Roll some dice indeed!
Hope the doldrums don't last too long.

Yes, I'm going through something similar at the moment. Every time I sell something I feel a bit better!

I am too afraid of what conclusions I might come to if I were to search m should in such a manner. Instead I choose to ignore the facts and buy more stuff instead!

Whatever you do, just have fun with it DC!

(Though I trust those wonderful VSF walkers etc from your Aqaba campaign remain in your inventory. That might be a fun thing to revisit for some Mojo. Maybe they could be put into service with Fezia and Rusland...)

Your call ... it's a free world ... I will respect your decision .. however ..

For gawd's sake David even Time Lord's are supposed to regenerate only seven times (I don't care what they say about 12 in the new series)

Hang on to that naval kit and "Just Do It" with what you have got!

;)

I feel your pain

Hi Trad,

The plans are in hand and I am rather looking forward to weekend! Seriously though, I am no longer able to go to my club except on special occasions and so have not been able to get a game in this year - even at home it has been challenging. I am looking forward to rolling some dice and whilst the block armies may not be everyone's cup of tea they are for me, a means to an end.

All the best,

DC

Hi Legatus,

It is a funny thing that I when my gaming mojo is at a low ebb I also feel much better disposing of kit - and then buying new stuff with the proceeds! At least it keeps the lead and plastic mountains to manageable levels....;-)

All the best,

DC

Hi Paul,

Gosh I remember those! I have done nothing in respect of VSF for ages so perhaps revisiting the same may be an idea.

That is a good call my antipodean chum!

All the best

Hi Geordie,

Cheers old chap - I appreciate the thought. I tend to be quite ruthless once I have made a decision in respect of gaming kit and I won't lie when I say that sometimes I live to regret it!

At the end of the day though such an approach does enable me to fund whatever the next project may be.

I guess I am still on a wargaming odyssey trying to nail that elusive period/system or whatever.

It is both a blessing and a curse....;-)

All the best

Gamer Introspection and period renewal are unavoidable in the fantastically odd hobby of wargaming, of course being men who have reached a certain age has nothing to do with it.

It's good to take stock and clear the passageways. New shiny will inevitably replace old and the cycle will insidiously start again, although each time it is slightly more controlled

Hi Dave,

That is a very accurate observation although in my case the last eight words never seem to pan out for me.....;-)

Thanks for sharing the pain though!

All the best,

DC
