I can only assume that the varnish had settled in the tin from the time of its last outing and although I shook it to within an inch of its life I neglected to stir the contents. A very basic error and I am sure I am not the only gamer to have done this!
I have just finished re varnishing them with a properly stirred and shaken tin whilst simultaneously feeling suitably chastened thereby scotching the rumour about men and multi-tasking.
Ho hum....;-)

This is one reason why I tend to gloss varnish most of my stuff; I kept finding that the matt was never matt, even if I shook and stirred the tin for hours!
I am sure that they will turn out all right in the end.
