Return of the Mat

A small force of Rebels reconnoitre their new playing surface

It has been a busy couple of days with the highlight being my visit to the home of that thoroughly decent chap, Old Painter Bob to conduct a fairly substantial transaction. This will feature in more detail in my blog post of tomorrow but suffice to say it will be worth the wait!

Earlier in the week my replacement may from Deep Cut Studios arrived and I have to say I am delighted with it. The 4” hexes work really well with the ACW collection on its ‘1 figure, 1 block’ basis and this has heavily influenced my thinking around the Del Prado Napoleonic collection, more of which in a later post.

This was one of three really good things to happen this week which after the hassles of earlier was most welcome.

I am now back to my usual sunny disposition....:-)

That mat does look good and the lines are nice and clear, but not over powering. Good to have good news after the week you've had.

Hi Steve J,

I am delighted with it and it means that at last I can now start planning some games and giving some serious thought to terrain.

This was but one of the positive things of the last couple of days but the best will feature tomorrow.

It is a peach as well!

All the best,

DC

The mat looks even better than I expected ... and the figures look great as well.

Hopefully we’ll see the latter in action on the former in the near future.

All the best,

Bob

I do like the look of the mat , especially with the troops on it. My hex terrain takes up a big cardboard box which is not too convenient to store and a hassle to put together and take down. The mat is much more convenient. Temptations...

Hi Bob,

I am really pleased with it and so am busy planning my first game on it. I want to get a desert version and am also considering a seascape with 1 3/4” hexes. The reason for this is because that is the size used in conjunction with Heroscape terrain and it suits my gaming space and preferred model size really well. (5ft by 3ft and 1:2400th).

All the best,

DC

Hi Tradgardmastare,

It is certainly a lot more convenient than setting up hex terrain and is easier to store for sure.

It was quite reasonably priced as well and the quality is very good.

I am sure the rubber smell will wear off soon!

All the best,

DC

Hi Geordie,

It does look rather fetching for sure!

It is also a lot less hassle than using Hexon....

All the best,
