A large number for sure but how accurate is it?
I am not sure if I should be celebrating this or not as the blog has gone beyond the two million page views in a fairly spectacular fashion!
The progress to two million was relatively measured but over the last couple of weeks or so the daily page views have been off the charts so to speak! I think I hit the two million milestone legitimately but it has been bonkers on a daily basis ever since and way in excess of the usual viewing traffic.
Much activity in the Bot-o-sphere methinks.
Anyway, to all of the human readers that have looked at my ramblings over the years, many thanks.
And to the Bots, please leave A Wargaming Odyssey alone - I shall start getting delusions of grandeur otherwise!

Beep boop, and well done
Likewise - I was away for a while and "hits" went into teh hundred for posts that would really just get 50 reads (from humans)!
Congrats Dave!! Bots or not, you've got a great blog!
I seem to be attracting them as well
I have noticed exactly the same thing in the last few weeks...my views normally run at around double the comments, but now, I might have 30 comments ( including my replies) and 750 views or similar....I wonder if all the various AI systems are learning about wargaming currently 🤔 😀
David,
Congratulations … but I suspect that you aren’t alone in having a surge in the number of ‘hits’ over the past week or so. I have written a blog post about the phenomenon that is due to become ‘live’ tomorrow.
All the best,
Bob
Congratulations! But you might want to take care not to anger the bots. I've heard tell they are on very good terms with the Dalecks, EXTERMINATE! 😁
Like the other commentors, it seems like all the blogs I look into have reported surges in "viewership" over the last month or so, including on WordPress. I've always had surges of bots from unlikely places. It would be lonely without them.
Good luck with your new project!
Congrats, courtesy of the Bots or not! Looking at my stats now and then, it's amazing at how many gamers there suddenly appear to be in Brazil, Indonesia, Iran etc...
David -
My own blog registered its million views a few weeks ago - just before the surge in bot-views. I was really chuffed, especially considering I average fewer than 50 posts in a year (less than one a week).
It is hard to fathom why anyone would trouble themselves to create such a bot, even for a 'bad' purpose. But I've never understood purposelessness.
Cheers,
Ion
Hello there Els On,
Channeling your inner R2-D2 eh? Many thanks all the same!
All the best,

Hi Geordie,
I am confident that the 2 million milestone was legitimately reached but the bots have been very busy since then - some 300K worth in fact!
All the best,
DC
Hello there Raymondo,
Many thanks old chap - very kind of you to say so.
All the best,

Hiya GSS,
They are rampant at present!
All the best,

Hi RRoss,
If the AI systems are hoping to learn anything from my blog then they will be in for a shock! I wonder what AI would make of MDF warships?
All the best,

Hi Bob,
Many thanks old chap! The blogosphere is replete with bot driven surges at the moment - makes a nonsense of any kind of formal counting of page views etc!
All the best,
DC
Hi Mark,
Thanks you kindly sir! The Daleks eh? As a boy they were the go to Sci fi villain of choice!
All the best,
DC
Hi Charles,
Rampaging bots - the shape of things to come maybe? It would be nice if they introduced themselves though!
All the best,
DC
Hi Steve J,
Many thanks Steve although the surge seems to show no sign of abating anytime soon so 3 million is on the way! Truly the world is getting smaller!
All the best,
DC
Hi Ion,
Bots gotta Bot I guess! Congrats on the million though!
All the best,
DC
