.... After 210 days of being unemployed I have today been offered - and have accepted - a new and permanent position in a completely different career to that which I have spent the last thirty years doing with the start date being the 15th of May.
This just goes to show that even at my age (52 going on 18.....) it is NEVER too late to try something different.
How good do I feel?
YAY ME!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Stokie!
I certainly won't be earning the sort of money that will threaten gaming suppliers but as long as Chelsea get through this evening against Basel I shall be a very happy chap!
All the best and many thanks old chap!

Nice one DC :-)
I'm very happy of you and it looks like you could get out of painting those fence panels now as I'm trying to do here. I'd rather be painting ships...
All the best,
George,
That's great news. A change of careers in my mid 40's was very good for me. I hope the same for you.

Congrats, David.
Hope it works out for the best, i.e., doesn't interfere too much with the gaming...

John

To each and everyone,
Many, many thanks for the good wishes for my new job it is much appreciated. My new career is in the recruitment industry specialising in Compliance and Operational Risk in the financial services industry in which I have worked for some thirty odd years. I am starting at the bottom and expect the hours to be long and progress to be modest to begin with. Having said that, it is a foothold in the industry I want to work in and will lead to bigger and better opportunities in the fullness of time.
It is a challenge to be sure but one that I want to embrace.
Closer to home it will mean a number of changes to the project list!
All the best and thank you all once again,
DC
Mr Kinch,
Permission granted old bean!

I can see that you would bring the benefits and hindsight from both sides of the table to bear
Good hunting
Thanks Geordie - I am hoping that the 'poacher turned gamekeeper' approach will bear fruit in the fullness of time.

WAHOOOOO!!!
Congrats on your news. Sorry for being late in responding but I took my daughter to a badminton tournament yesterday leaving at 6:30am.
See - I told you. If you get a lot of new kit to paint you'll find your self with a lack of time to paint it.
Cheers

Hi Peter,
Many thanks indeed old chap! re the painting - aside from the ships I am so pleased that I have access to a lot of block based armies!
