Litko acrylic shell splashes - they are currently $5.99 for 10 but I am sure I paid less for them. Mind you, it was a few years ago!
These are rather fiddly blighters to put together as the peg at the foot of the white splash is too large for the blue base. This means filing them down individually to fit. It is not difficult but tedious to do - and I have 40 of them. I have completed 20 and intend finishing the rest off over the next day or so.
As I recall they are available in three sizes - those above are the smallest - which would be useful for varying calibre hits if needed. It is not urgent but I may get some explosion or fire type markers from them in due course.
I intend using these for my naval games going forward and they will make their debut with the Denmark Strait game I shall be fighting this coming weekend.

Nice little markers. Likto tokens are great but they are very expensive (he says looking guiltily at a sizeable box of plastic tokens...).
Erik (who used to run Figures in Comfort) is still the UK retailer for Litko products under his new company https://www.gamingenhancements.com/
It may be quicker and easier to order from him if you don't already. I can only see two sizes of splash marker listed (mini and small), packs are £4.50
Hi Lee,
I remember when I purchased them originally from the US they worked out quite expensive which is why I only got 4 packs. They are nice though.
I may have a look to see if anyone makes similar in MDF.
All the best,

Hi Tamsin,
Thanks for the heads up. The range may have changed since I got mine - it must have been three or four years ago.
I will contact Erik to see what else he has although to be honest I don't really need much else for this particular project.
It would be nice to see some MDF types available from somewhere as they would be a much cheaper option.

Those do look nice though, better than the golf tees and pegs you often see used for games.
Although rather than filing, surely you could drill them out? Ought to be faster.
Hi Stu Rat,
I have used golf tees in the past for 1/1200th scale Fletcher Pratt games and they certainly look effective. They would be a little large for my present needs though.

Hi Lasgunpacker,
Sadly that would not work as the locating hole is square. It is a tedious inconvenience but nothing major.

I make splash markers out of wood screws coated in acrylic filler and glued onto a washer or mdf base. Works well and is dirt cheap.
Hi J J,
I have seen similar in a few places and it would be something easy enough to do if needs be. The Litko markers were acquired a while ago and I routinely use Mastermind pegs in any event so have not really needed to go down the DIY route.
Good shout though.
All the best,
DC
